The Heart of Yoga

“Love the feeling of being in your body so much that you want to tend to it.” -Mark Whitwell

Yoga is an infinitely adaptable spiritual technology, a full-body prayer, giving us direct access to Life in this moment. Yoga is the pairing of the victorious breath (Ujjayi) with postures (asana) to create the conditions for the union of opposites: moon and sun, feminine and masculine, inhale and exhale, above and below, left and right. When committed to on a daily basis, the Heart of Yoga practice transforms us from receiver to giver, our cups from empty to full. It gives us the gift of our Selves and empowers us to share with others.

When we practice the Heart of Yoga, we follow the same structure each week so that the asana, or postures, become second nature. Through the simple act of marrying body movement to the breath we access deeper levels of intimacy within ourselves and feel a greater sense of connectedness to all Life. With a devotional heart, we practice moving and breathing safely and effectively, allowing the sacred transmission of Yoga to open our hearts and transform our relationships.

If you can breathe, you can do Yoga!
